The second transnational partner meeting of the Erasmus+ X-VET project was held in Riga, bringing together representatives of the seven partner organisations to review project progress, coordinate the completion of the current work package and prepare the transition to the next major phase of implementation.

The project Integrated Sustainability for the Effective Navigation of Emerging Critical Transformations (Green & Digital & Economic) — X-VET — aims to support vocational education and training institutions in responding effectively to the interconnected green, digital and economic transitions.

The X-VET consortium consists of Public Open University Čakovec (Croatia), Werkstatt-Berufskolleg Unna (Germany, coordinator), Acceleras KG (Austria), Ilmiolavoro SRL (Italy), SIA Hotel School Viesnīcu biznesa koledža (Latvia), ICEP s.r.o. (Slovakia) and Tehnička škola Pirot (Serbia).

By combining sustainability competences, digital learning and experiential approaches, the project seeks to equip VET institutions, educators and learners with practical tools for integrating sustainability into governance, curricula and everyday educational practice.

X-VET Partners Met in Riga

A central topic of the Riga meeting was the completion of Work Package 2 and its main result, the Integrated Sustainability Workbook. The partners discussed the remaining tasks, responsibilities and steps required to finalise this research-based resource.

The Workbook is designed to support a whole-organisation approach to sustainability in vocational education and training. It includes the X-VET Competence Model, a framework for sustainability integration and a practical ten-step process model. It will also provide guidelines, strategic tools, templates and examples that VET institutions can use to embed sustainability into institutional policies, curricula, teaching practices, operations and cooperation with the labour market.

The meeting also marked the beginning of detailed planning for Work Package 3, dedicated to the development of the Integrated Sustainability MOOC. The partners reviewed the proposed course concept, division of responsibilities and development sequence, including storyboarding, module development, multimedia production, translation, technical integration and pilot testing.

The MOOC will offer three tailored learning pathways: for VET leaders and administrators, for educators and trainers, and for VET learners. Its 11-module structure will combine common introductory content with specialised modules addressing sustainability governance, pedagogical integration, green and digital competences, sustainable careers and experiential entrepreneurship.

Interactive activities, case studies, multimedia resources, gamified elements, assessments and progress tracking will support flexible and self-paced learning.

The Riga meeting provided an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation within the partnership and establish a shared understanding of the next stages of project implementation.

Public Open University Čakovec continues to contribute to the development of innovative educational content and practical tools for vocational and adult education. Follow our website for further news on the implementation of the X-VET project and announcements of future activities and meetings.
