On 23 September 2026, a working meeting of representatives of Public Open University Čakovec and Ljudska univerza Ormož was held at Public Open University Čakovec as part of the SMART AGE – Seniors’ Media Awareness & Resilience in the Digital Age project.
The meeting took place within the third work package, through which the project is entering the phase of transforming the developed curriculum into an accessible and interactive online learning environment for older learners.
Public Open University Čakovec is responsible for the technical development and maintenance of the platform, with particular emphasis on simple navigation, content accessibility, clear progress tracking, and adaptation to the needs of older users.
During the meeting, representatives of Public Open University Čakovec demonstrated the technical implementation and features of the future MOOC platform using the first working version of Module 1 – Information and Media Literacy, prepared by Ana Kaučič from Ljudska univerza Ormož. Using this concrete example, the participants discussed lesson structure, content presentation, interactive activities, quizzes, and feedback for learners.
Ljudska univerza Ormož is leading the next activities related to the development of modular MOOC content, translation and localisation, and beta testing with older learners. The project foresees the development of ten interactive modules based on the SMART AGE curriculum. The curriculum defines ten modules and approximately 75 hours of learning in total, while the MOOC will transform this structure into an asynchronous and self-paced online learning experience featuring videos, quizzes, activities, examples, and automated feedback.
The next step is to continue developing and aligning the content of individual modules with the technical structure of the platform. This will be followed by content localisation and beta testing with older learners, whose feedback will be used for the final adaptation of the MOOC before its publication.
