Last week, Public Open University Čakovec had the pleasure of hosting adult learners from the German adult education centre VHS Krempe as part of an Erasmus+ KA1 group mobility. The visit focused on exchanging good practices in lifelong learning, the use of digital technologies and sustainable development, while also providing participants with a comprehensive introduction to the natural and cultural heritage of Međimurje.
Overview of Mobility Activities and Content
Exchange of experiences in education: In the introductory part of the programme, we compared the adult education systems and challenges in Croatia and Germany and presented the educational programmes offered by our institution.
Cultural and historical context: Participants visited the Treasury of Međimurje and Zrinski Park, exploring the historical identity and heritage of Čakovec and the wider Međimurje region.
Innovative projects and technologies: Through the InclusiGardens and HER[TAGE projects, we presented the use of gamification in education and the role of generative artificial intelligence in preserving intangible cultural heritage. The guests had the opportunity to try out educational games and explore AI-generated illustrations and digital stories.
Tradition and sustainability: A visit to the Potato Museum and a family farm in Belica showcased a model of local agricultural production, while the programme at the Goričanec excursion site focused on biodiversity, sustainable environmental management, as well as traditional Međimurje cuisine and winemaking.
Digital interpretation of heritage: The programme concluded at the Fairy-Tale Forest theme park, where participants explored Slavic folklore and mythology through augmented reality (AR).
The mobility once again confirmed the value of the Erasmus+ programme in strengthening international cooperation, developing new skills and fostering intercultural connections. We would like to thank our partners from VHS Krempe for their excellent cooperation and inspiring exchange of knowledge and experiences.
