We are pleased to share the news that another Erasmus+ project involving Public Open University Čakovec has been approved. NATUREscapes is a small-scale partnership project that will run for 18 months, with a total budget of EUR 60,000.00.
NATUREscapes is an Erasmus+ project that aims to use the sounds of nature to positively influence mental health, reduce stress and improve concentration among adult learners.
The project seeks to address digital fatigue caused by the constant use of screens, which is becoming an increasingly significant issue among adults. As one of the proposed solutions, we will develop a web application featuring ambient sounds that will help learners maintain their concentration and self-regulate stress.
Traditional classrooms will be transformed into modern hubs for cognitive development and mental well-being. This process will be supported by a Handbook for Adult Education Trainers based on Attention Restoration Theory, according to which exposure to nature contributes to relaxation and overall well-being. The project will also apply the principle of soft fascination, linked to practices such as mindfulness, with the aim of reducing stress and anxiety.
Project activities and results will be connected to the European GreenComp framework by encouraging a stronger connection with the environment through audiovisual stimuli. The project will document the acoustic heritage of the Mura and Drava rivers and bring it together in a multimedia library available through a web application designed to support learning.
The project is coordinated by Kultivator Association from Croatia, with Ljudska univerza Ormož from Slovenia and Public Open University Čakovec as project partners.
