For the upcoming World Water Day, we are sharing a new online digital story collection featuring 36 stories connected to the Mura, Drava, and Danube.
Drawn from memories shared by elderly community members from Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia, the collection brings together stories of everyday life by the rivers, traditional ecological knowledge, and local heritage shaped by water, landscape, and community experience.
Available in English, Croatian, Slovenian, and Serbian, each story has been presented as an interactive multimedia experience, accompanied by an AI-generated illustration, AI voice narration, and a short educational summary that highlights related environmental and cultural themes.
The collection offers a different way to engage with rivers, not only as natural resources, but also as places of memory, identity, and knowledge. Marking World Water Day, it invites readers to explore how local stories can open space for reflection on sustainability, intergenerational learning, and the relationship between people and water.
The story collection is available here.
