From 23 to 27 March 2026, a teacher from Public Open University Čakovec took part in a job shadowing activity within the framework of the Erasmus+ accreditation in the field of adult education. The mobility took place in Valencia at CEEDCV (Centre Específic d’Educació a Distància de la Comunitat Valenciana), an institution providing distance education for adults and young people.

During the stay, the participant gained valuable insight into the work of a large public institution with around 170 teachers and 5,000 learners each year, where education is delivered entirely in an online environment. Particular attention was given to the organisation and delivery of teaching, the use of digital platforms, the development of learning materials, and support for learners who need to balance their education with work, family responsibilities, and other life circumstances.

One of the most important insights concerned learner support. The experience highlighted the importance of a personalised approach, motivation, and continuous monitoring of learner progress in adult education. In such an environment, it is not enough simply to provide high-quality content and appropriate technology. It is equally important to help learners remain motivated, stay engaged in the learning process, and successfully complete their educational programme.

Another particularly valuable aspect was the opportunity to observe cooperation between teachers and specialist support services, which work together to ensure the quality of digital education. At CEEDCV, dedicated teams provide teachers with technical, visual, and organisational support, further contributing to the quality of distance learning.

The mobility also provided an opportunity to reflect on the potential use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, in adult education. Examples of innovative digital solutions and learning materials were presented, designed to be flexible, inclusive, and adapted to the real needs of learners.

For Public Open University Čakovec, this experience was especially valuable as it generated new ideas for strengthening learner support, developing digital learning content, and further improving its work in the field of adult education. At the same time, the mobility once again confirmed the importance of Erasmus+ activities for exchanging experiences, exploring and comparing different educational approaches, and developing future international cooperation.
