About
The SMART AGE project aims to enhance media literacy and digital resilience among seniors, particularly those in rural areas, to address the challenges posed by misinformation and AI-generated content. The core objective is to equip elderly learners with the critical skills needed to confidently and safely navigate the digital space. To achieve this, the project will develop a comprehensive, micro-credential-based curriculum aligned with the DigComp 2.2 framework, focusing on topics such as fact-checking, identifying algorithmic bias, and digital privacy. This curriculum will be transformed into an accessible, multilingual Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) designed for self-paced learning. Key activities include curriculum development, MOOC creation, pilot testing with seniors across four partner countries (Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Belgium), and wide-scale dissemination through multiplier events and a social media campaign. The expected results are a high-quality, competency-based curriculum and an interactive MOOC, which will enable seniors to obtain certificates recognizing their digital skills, thereby fostering greater digital autonomy, civic engagement, and social inclusion.
