The Open Adult Education Centre Čakovec (Pučko otvoreno učilište Čakovec) participated in the first online kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project titled “Experiential Sustainability Education for VET Learners” (X-VET), which was held with all project partners. With this meeting, the partners officially commenced joint preparations for the start of the project implementation, which begins on November 1, 2025, and will last until October 31, 2028.

Partners from seven countries are participating in the project: Werkstatt-Berufskolleg Unna (Germany) as the coordinator, and partners Open Adult Education Centre Čakovec (Croatia), Acceleras (Austria), SIA Hotel School (Latvia), ICEP – Institute of European Certification of Personnel (Slovakia), Technical School Pirot (Serbia), and Ilmiofuturo (Italy).

The X-VET project is focused on strengthening the capacities of Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions in the context of the green and digital transitions. Its main objective is to integrate experiential learning, entrepreneurial approaches, and digital innovations into the daily practice of teachers and learners in vocational education. POU Čakovec is the lead partner for the fourth work package, in which we will focus on organizing “hackathons”—intensive, short-term events where interested participants gather to collaboratively and creatively solve set problems or develop new solutions—on the theme of sustainability. In doing so, we will develop guidelines for organizing hackathons, conduct training, and provide support for organizing one hackathon in each partner country.

At the meeting, the partners presented their organizations, experiences, and the roles they will have in the project. The basic steps and activities for the first months of implementation were agreed upon, and methods of communication, dissemination of results, and partner coordination were also discussed.
