From September 23 to 27, 2024, Pučko otvoreno učilište Čakovec organized a group mobility for adult learners within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA1 accreditation in the field of adult education. This activity, held in collaboration with Ljudska univerza Ormož, brought together our participants for an unforgettable week filled with learning and new experiences.
The mobility week in Ormož was packed with diverse and enriching activities for the participants. Ljudska univerza Ormož presented its work through an interactive presentation, providing detailed insight into the institution, staff, educational programs, and projects they conduct. This presentation sparked many questions and lively discussions among the participants, creating a positive atmosphere filled with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with local culture and heritage through visits to significant institutions. At the Franc Ksaver Meško Library in Ormož, they were impressed by the work and achievements of this green library, which conducts numerous activities for children and adults and participates in EU projects. A tour of the Regional Museum Ptuj Ormož further enriched their cultural experience.
The program included a series of creative workshops that enabled participants to develop new skills. The knitting workshop was an excellent opportunity to develop creativity, resulting in the creation of their own necklaces that the participants proudly took as souvenirs. The workshop on making flowers from crepe paper was particularly interesting and dynamic, and participants took their own creations home. At the Reuse Center, participants decorated reusable bags, developing environmental awareness and care for the environment in the process.
Local gastronomy played an important role in the program. Participants visited the Oil Mill in Središče ob Dravi, where they tasted local products. They also participated in a cooking workshop preparing traditional Prekmurje layer cake, which provided an opportunity to compare it with the Međimurje layer cake and exchange culinary skills.
The language component of the program included a workshop on the basics of the Slovenian language, which provided participants with basic language skills useful for better navigation in the local environment. Additional enrichment of the experience came from socializing with mobility participants from Ormož, who shared their experiences from mobility in Ireland, providing inspiration and motivation to our participants.
A walk through the city and park was organized for relaxation and enjoyment of the natural environment. This activity provided a perfect way to unwind and enjoy nature after an intensive program and socializing with participants from Ormož.
The week concluded with a ceremonial awarding of certificates, marking the successful completion of the mobility program. This rich experience left a deep impression on all participants, providing them not only with new knowledge and skills but also unforgettable memories of the time spent together in Ormož.
This mobility was not just an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills, but also to strengthen intergenerational connections and cultural exchange. Participants returned home richer for new experiences, friendships, and inspiration for further learning. POU Čakovec continues to implement similar projects within the Erasmus+ program, aiming to promote personal growth and social integration of our participants.
