The Public Open University Čakovec is proud to announce that, within the framework of the recent external evaluation conducted by the Agency for Vocational and Adult Education (ASOO), it has been rated as a high-quality institution. This recognition confirms our commitment to excellence in adult education and the continuous improvement of our educational programs and services.
Key strengths of the Public Open University Čakovec recognised during the evaluation:
- A decades-long tradition in adult education and lifelong learning.
- Long-standing and successful collaboration with the local community, employers, the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), and numerous associations, with a special emphasis on organisations dedicated to protecting the rights of marginalised groups.
- The only institution in Međimurje and Varaždin counties authorised to conduct primary education for adults.
- Development and implementation of its own micro-qualification programs, aligned with labour market needs.
- Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of adult education until 2027, along with active participation in numerous European projects.
- Excellent spatial, technical, and material conditions for conducting teaching and projects.
- A wide range of offerings – more than 70 verified adult education programs.
- Active and multi-channel promotion and transparent communication with the public.
- Emphasised inclusivity through support for the education of members of the Roma national minority and persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Systematic linking of education and employment, in close collaboration with employers and other community stakeholders.
- Instruction oriented towards work and the development of practical skills needed in the labour market.

The Agency for Vocational and Adult Education (ASOO) specifically highlighted the Public Open University Čakovec as an example of good practice and recommended our institution as a model for other organisations in the field of adult education. Our work has also been recognised as a key contribution to community development through the provision of high-quality, relevant, and inclusive educational content.
In the spirit of transparency and continuous improvement, we accept the recommendations for further enhancement, which include creating a development strategy, strengthening the internal quality assurance system, and increasing the number of permanent teaching staff.
