About
The HER[AI]TAGE project is an Erasmus+ small-scale partnership in adult education dedicated to leveraging innovative AI technology to preserve and promote intangible cultural heritage. Focusing on oral histories linked to significant bodies of water such as the Mura, Drava, and Danube, as well as local environments in Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia, the project aims to document and digitally archive stories from elderly community members before they are lost to time. Through AI-generated illustrations, an interactive digital collection, and a tailored e-learning platform, the project combines tradition with modern technology to engage and educate diverse audiences. HER[AI]TAGE emphasizes environmental awareness by capturing elders’ ecological knowledge and fosters intergenerational bonds by sharing these cultural narratives with younger generations and wider society. The project’s outputs include a publicly accessible database of stories, virtual exhibitions enriched with AI-generated content, and capacity-building for adult educators in ethically using AI tools. Primary beneficiaries include senior citizens as cultural storytellers, adult education professionals, and local communities, while secondary impacts extend to broader public engagement, reinforcing a shared European heritage. By bridging traditional wisdom with cutting-edge technology, HER[AI]TAGE showcases the transformative potential of AI in cultural preservation and lifelong learning.
