World Environment Day is the most important international day dedicated to promoting environmental conservation. It is celebrated on June 5th every year, on the anniversary of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm (1972), where the United Nations Environment Programme was adopted. By celebrating World Environment Day around the world, the United Nations Environment Programme seeks to highlight major environmental issues and raise awareness and action towards sustainable development and environmental protection.
Within the Raising Awareness for a Greener Tomorrow project, we strive to empower individuals and communities with the necessary skills and tools to exchange knowledge and raise awareness about green topics. As part of the project, we are developing tools and resources that will primarily help with proper waste sorting and disposal. The first result of the project, the Report on the State of Waste Management in Croatia, Slovenia, and North Macedonia, is available on the RAGT website.
